Felt like a daydream, when I heard the news today. Because it's just so hard to believe, that you've gone away. Took me back to those younger days, right from the start. All those melodies that you sang were written in your heart. And now you're finally free - like you always wanted to be. Still all those memories where love still abides. Looking back through those HEY-HEY DAYS, it was good clean fun. Forty-five years together. And the journey was a long run. And I'll remember those summer days, when they play your song. I'll close my eyes and see you standing there - and you're still singing along. Singing that you're finally free - like you always wanted to be. Still all those memories where love still abides. And as we look back through the tears and hear the laughter after all those years. Still those pictures seem so clear and it just gets me inside. The show is over and the curtain closes. The last train waits to take you home. Still the audience keeps singing your chorus, and if we listen close we can hear you singing along. Singing that you're finally free - like you always wanted to be. Still all those memories where love still abides. And as we look back through the tears and hear the laughter after all those years. Still those pictures seem so clear and it just gets me inside.

about

Davy Jones of The Monkees passed away on February 29, 2012 at the age of 66. That night I sat at my piano and began to pen a tribute song to Davy. Songcrafter John Roginski (of The Monkee tribute band "The Monkeephiles") heard the demo and asked if I would give him the song to add his Monkee magic to it - giving it the sound it deserved.

The song was featured in the "WRITTEN IN OUR HEARTS" vegetarian cookbook to benefit Davy's rescue horse foundation www.djemf.com. The cookbook featured stories and recipes from Davy's family and friends including Micky & Peter of The Monkees, some of the cast of The Brady Bunch and Boy Meets World, etc..

This project is also going to fight multiple sclerosis, a chronic disease affecting the central nervous system (the brain and spinal cord). A disease Davy spent 17 years fighting!

In his autobiography "Daydream Believin'," he expressed his pain of losing his niece:

"No amount of words could express my deepest loss -- my niece Deborah was someone who touched my life so lasting -- I'm sure all family and friends feel many of the same feelings as I have and still do. My life is incomplete and will always be until I can be where she is. Deborah touched my soul. As her life slowly and painfully was taken away from her, her feelings toward her suspended future must have been more than most could withstand. Her unbelievable strength to live -- to fight for her very existence. I believed she would win her fight and maybe she did. In fact, I'm sure she did. Her life ended -- her love and strength will live on through me, Hazel and Ken, and all who knew her. Say not she is dead for she has gone on a few steps ahead. Love still abides and we shall meet again."

When Davy passed in 2012, Jones' family asked for donations to be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society or a local chapter.

I know so many people fight MS and I am donating proceeds from this single to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society to help in the fight against MS. Please consider donating to help in the fight!

The song is FREE to listen and download. Fans can pay if they choose, and all proceeds will go to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.

Song is also a free download with the cookbook which can be found on Google, Amazon, etc.
